Staying in Touch with Our
Community
As an
organization, Sierra Lobo is community-outreach oriented. We believe that being a good corporate
citizen means using our human and financial resources to give back to society
and our immediate communities. Sierra
Lobo supports multiple initiatives and charitable programs through employee
efforts and volunteerism. We
particularly enjoy supporting and furthering the talent found in our
community members and education system.
We collaborate and team with many schools and related educational
programs to ensure our youth are educated in scientific principles and have
fun learning about science. This
enthusiasm involving the commitment of time and effort from our employees
cannot be fabricated –
and we hope it is contagious.
Mavericks Robotics Team
In April 2010, the EHOVE
team that Sierra Lobo (Milan, Ohio) sponsored and supported won the first
Buckeye Regional Robotics Competition held at the Wolstein
Center of Cleveland State University (Cleveland, Ohio). The team competed against over sixty teams
from seven different states. As a
result of their win and achievement, the EHOVE team was invited to the
national competition in Atlanta, GA.
Mr. Alex Yeckley, Senior
Electro-Mechanical Engineer at Sierra Lobo, has worked on this program with
the EHOVE youth for the last six years. Mr. Yeckley provided great direction and support to the
Robotics team. As a result of his
leadership, the EHOVE event has grown substantially.
Sierra Lobo’s team on the TFOME contract at NASA Glenn
Research Center also provides major support at the event by providing a
machine/repair shop on wheels for all the teams that go to the event.
You can learn more about the Sierra Lobo culture, our
team members, and capabilities by linking to the Sierra Lobo Newsletter.
Working with Our Communities
This
is the type of excitement that gets our youth motivated in math and science!
