Fabrication and Processes

Sierra Lobo offers in-house fabrication capability that includes welding of all types of metals using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment, vacuum brazing, cutting, and beveling. Our capabilities extend to assembly, installation, modification, inspection, calibration, adjustment, alignment, disassembly, maintenance, repairs, overhaul, replacement, and precision cleaning of mechanical systems and equipment such as mechanical processes piping, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, fluid distribution and control lines, vacuum pumps and systems, compressors, gauges, fittings, valves and seals, pressure vents and pressure regulating devices. We have expertise in the areas of cryogenic systems, special test fixtures, highly specialized instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and complex control systems. Our mechanical technicians possess advanced mechanical training and are certified in using tools, measuring instruments, specialized, non-conventional and complex machining and fabricating equipment and in operating complicated and varied mechanical parts, components, and systems. Our instrumentation personnel have extensive experience in the installation and fabrication of system instrumentation including pressure, flow, temperature, and strain gauge instruments. In addition to these general fabrication tasks, our staff has extensive experience in the following processes:

Surface Treatment:

·         Oxygen Cleaning, Passivation, Plating, Anodizing, and Dry Film Lubrication

Welding and Heat Treatment:

·         Certified Welding in accordance with ASME Code (TIG, MIG, SMAW, and Orbital)

Coating:

·         Priming, Full Painting, Brush Electroplating, and Casting Impregnation

Propellant Handling and Testing:

·         The Sierra Lobo fabrication and testing facility is located on a 16 acre property with areas that are specifically designated for propellant handling and high energy testing, with provision to satisfy NFPA sitting and exclusion zone requirements.
